The plans below show how to build a wooden creep feeder. The dimensions can be easily adjusted based on the number of calves you have. The feeder shown here was made for two calves but could easily be modified for three or four animals.

The creep feeder should be constructed with pressure treated lumber so it will last longer outdoors. The dimensions for this example are 3 feet wide by 4 feet long by 4 feet high (48 inches).

This size will accommodate two calves comfortably without them being able to butt heads while eating from the troughs.

For the wooden creep feeder to be built, you will need a frame that can be made from square timbers. The size and thickness of the timber will depend on what you have available and what you are comfortable with. The timber can be cut to length and then sawn into the required sizes for each component of the frame, or it can be bought as frames that are ready assembled. This means that you do not have to worry about measuring and cutting them yourself; all you have to do is assemble them together and place your feed into it.

The frame should have four sides with two corners on each side being rounded off at 45 degrees. The corners should also be reinforced with metal corner pieces so that they do not break easily when they are hit by an animal or by something heavy falling onto them. At the top of each corner post there should be a metal strip welded on with an opening in one end so that water can drain out when it rains or if there is snow on top of it during winter months. This will prevent water collecting inside which could lead to rotting woodwork and animals getting stuck in places where they cannot get out again once they are inside
