How to build a custom aquarium
Building a custom aquarium can be tricky. Luckily, some of the most common aquarium construction materials make it easy to build an aquarium from scratch. If you are thinking about building a glass aquarium, you will notice that there are plenty of options to choose from. From hardy glass materials to more custom solutions, there are plenty of ways to build an aquarium.

The strongest option for an aquarium is to use solid wood for the frame. Solid wood is stronger than composite woods like plywood because solid wood is made using several layers of wood glued together with no voids in between them (plywood has voids between each layer).
You can also use metal framing if you prefer that look over wood or plastic frames. Metal framing will be much heavier than plastic or wood frames though so keep that in mind when choosing this type of material.
