Beanie feldstein how to build a girl

Beanie Feldstein’s How to Build a Girl is a coming-of-age story about a teenage girl named Johanna Morrigan who wants to become a writer. But she’s not really sure how to go about it. She has no idea how to write, what kind of writer she wants to be, or even what kind of stories she wants to tell.

Johanna lives with her mother, an alcoholic who spends most days either passed out on the couch or trying to get rid of the stains on her carpet by scrubbing them with bleach. The only person in her life who seems capable of giving her advice is her best friend, Kezia Dawes, who believes that all boys are terrible and should be avoided at all costs (although she does have a secret crush on Johnny Depp).

So when Johanna spots an ad for an internship at a local magazine, she decides that this will be her opportunity to figure things out — so long as she gets hired for the job first!
