The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (CBBT) is a 23-mile (37 km)-long bridge-tunnel complex in the Delmarva Peninsula that connects Virginia Beach with the Eastern Shore region of Maryland. The bridges span the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and connect to the mainland at Virginia Beach and Cape Charles, respectively. The 4-lane tunnels connect these two segments on their east sides so that vehicles do not have to cross water twice.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel runs from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Shoreham, Delaware. The bridge is funded by a toll every vehicle. The tunnel will always be free. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (CBBT) is a toll bridge–tunnel complex consisting of two bridges, the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel and the Managed Lanes Bridge, and one 3.5-mile tunnel linking Cape Charles, Virginia, to southern James City County, Virginia on the Delmarva Peninsula. The complex crosses the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay at a length of 19 miles (31 km) and at its widest point is 24 miles between Cape Charles and Sandbridge.
