Cost to build a bar
Bars are an important business facility in any hotel or restaurant. They usually consist of a bar counter, a storage unit and refrigerators to keep the drinks and beverages cool. Interior design and furniture also play a huge role in setting the right mood for your guests. Some items can be customized for you based on your requirements. For example, you can have bar stools added or replace the wooden counter with marble or granite stone.
Cost to build a bar
For your convenience, we’ve compiled a list of common bar buildout costs. These are averages from our own experience and from other companies.
The cost will vary depending on the size and scope of your project. You can expect to pay more for custom-built bars or bar renovations than for prefabricated bars. Keep in mind that these prices don’t include any design or site planning fees (it’s important to hire a designer who knows what they are doing). Also note that in some cases, you may have to pay separately for permits and inspections.
Dry Bar Installation Costs
Average Cost: $5,000 – $10,000
The dry bar is made up of concrete blocks and usually has no plumbing or electrical installed inside it. The installation process is similar to installing a traditional bar but without the sink or drain lines. The dry bar doesn’t require any plumbing work because there are no sinks or drains installed within the unit itself. Dry bars are typically used in outdoor settings where there is not an available water source nearby.

The cost of building a bar varies depending on the size and materials you choose. To give you a good idea, here are examples of bar projects we’ve completed recently:
1) A small custom wood-topped bar with stools, built-in wine racks and a small refrigerator. The total was around $3,500.
2) A larger commercial-grade stainless steel countertop with three sinks and a large refrigerator. The total was around $10,000.
3) A full restaurant-style kitchen in our garage — including full appliances, cabinets and plumbing — that cost us $25,000 (but could have been done for less).
Building a bar can be a fun and rewarding project. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your current home bar or build a new one from scratch, here are a few tips that will help you get started.
- Consider Your Space
Before you start building a bar, take some time to evaluate your space and make sure that it’s going to work for what you want it for. If you’re trying to build a bar in the corner of your living room, but your couch is there, then it won’t work. Make sure that the location is conducive to both enjoying drinks at home and entertaining guests.
- Plan Your Layout
Once you’ve determined where your bar will go, plan out its layout before starting construction. This will help ensure that everything fits together properly when you begin building. Draw out the shape of the bar on graph paper or use a computer program like SketchUp or AutoCAD to get an idea of what it will look like before starting construction so there are no surprises later on down the line!
