How to Build a Wooden Desk in 6 Steps
Step 1: Cut the pieces of lumber according to the cutting diagram in Figure A. If you’re using plywood instead of dimensional lumber, cut each piece down to size using a circular saw with a guide rail and miter gauge (Photo 1). Make sure all cuts are square and straight by measuring them against a straightedge as you saw through each piece.
Step 2: Assemble the frame using clamps to hold it together while driving one screw through each corner joint (Figure C). Drill pilot holes at least 3/8 in. deep before driving screws into each joint so they don’t split out when you tighten them down with a drill/driver or impact driver (Photos 2-3).
