The average cost to build a home in the U.S. is $600,000. That’s according to the National Association of Home Builders’ latest report on builder costs, which was released in May 2016.
Homebuilders surveyed by NAHB said they expect building costs to rise by an average of 1 percent in 2017. That’s lower than the 2 percent increase forecasted at the start of 2016 but still higher than the current inflation rate (1 percent).
