Every Star Wars fan has at least one dream of building a lightsaber. There are several documented but the best documented project is the one started by Barry Weiss in 1995. He wanted to build a lightsaber but he was not able to do it due to financial limitations. He was able to gather most parts by himself or from friends and family members but he still needed $1,500 which would allow him to finish his project.

The lightsaber is arguably the most iconic weapon in Star Wars, and now you can build your own with the new Build Your Own Lightsaber experience at Galaxy’s Edge and Disney Parks.
You can choose from four different styles:
Galaxies Edge Lightsaber – This customizable lightsaber comes in three pieces: the hilt, blade and blade attachment. Choose your favorite color, then customize it further with a unique design element like a crystal or colored grip.
Edge Lightsaber Online – This customizable lightsaber comes in three pieces: the hilt, blade and blade attachment. Choose your favorite color and design it further with a unique crystal or colored grip.

Build A Droid – This interactive experience lets you choose from multiple droid parts to create your very own R2-D2 or BB-8!
The cost to build a lightsaber at Disney World is $29.95 per lightsaber. The cost to build a lightsaber at Disneyland is $29.95 per lightsaber.
Galaxys Edge Lightsaber
The Galaxys Edge Lightsaber will cost you $29.95 per lightsaber. These lightsabers are custom made and can be used by you in the park. You will need to pay a deposit of $10 for each lightsaber that you want to use in the park so that we can ensure that we have enough for all of our guests who want to build their own saber!
Legacy Lightsabers
Legacy Lightsabers are available at Disney Parks, but they are not made by Disney Parks employees and they may not be allowed into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge if they appear too realistic due to security concerns.
When you visit Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge, you can build your own lightsaber. It’s going to cost you around $500.
Galaxy’s Edge has a number of official lightsaber vendors who will sell you one for between $400 and $500. The higher-end models will come with different add-ons and upgrades, but at the core they’re all basically the same thing: a glowing stick that lights up when swung around in the dark.
The most expensive option is called a “Legacy Lightsaber” (no, not that one), which costs $499.99 from Disney and comes with a display stand and certificate of authenticity. To get it, you’ll first need to build your own custom lightsaber by choosing from different hilts and colors for your blade before adding on any additional features like sound effects or lights along its edges.
Then, once it’s built, take it over to one of the vendors who sell them to be trained how to use it properly before getting into battle against some Stormtroopers or other enemies of the Resistance
The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lightsaber is a $200 build-your-own lightsaber experience at Disneyland and Disney World. The lightsaber is modeled after those used by the Jedi Order, and it’s the only way to get one at the parks.
The price includes admission to a 30-minute training session with an instructor, who will teach you how to use your weapon. You’ll then be able to customize your lightsaber by choosing a color, handle and blade style. You can also choose your own sound effect — such as “clash” or “humming.”

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a new land that opened at Disneyland in California in May 2019. Guests can experience three rides, including the Millennium Falcon, as well as shops and restaurants.
The park has a lot of new things to explore, and one of them is Build-A-Droid, which lets you customize your own droid. You can choose its body type and color, then add features like eyes or antennae, as well as accessories like hats and glasses.
New options for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lightsaber purchases have been added to the Walt Disney World resort in Florida. Galaxies Edge is the new Star Wars theme park, opening at Disneyland on May 31, and Walt Disney World on August 29. One of the most popular attractions is the Build a Droid Workshop where you can build your own personal droid and customize it with your favorite character’s lightsaber.
The Build a Droid Workshop is located in Batuu market on Batuu Island, which is part of Black Spire Outpost. The workshop consists of two stations: one for creating your droid using 3D printing technology, and another station where you can customize your droid by adding upgrades such as lightsabers or blasters.
There are five different parts to choose from when designing your own droid: head, body, arms, legs, and accessories. Each part has different options available for customization including color, size, shape and features like eyes (for droids), mouths (for astromech droids), weapons (blasters or lightsabers) or antennae (astromech droids).

The Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction has opened at Disneyland, and it features an augmented reality experience that allows guests to build their own lightsabers, something that Disney says is “only available in Anaheim.”
The lightsaber build experience will also be available at Disney World in Orlando.
Visitors choose from one of three blade styles and then customize their handle, guard and pommel with more than 1,500 possible combinations. The resulting saber can be used to fight Kylo Ren during a battle scene between him and Rey.
Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the most ambitious expansion of the Disneyland Resort in decades. The 14-acre land will feature two new attractions, a competitive ride and an immersive experience that lets guests visit the planet Batuu.
Galaxy’s Edge opens on May 31, but you can get a sneak peek at some of its features now.
The first is a virtual reality experience called “Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” that takes place in an underground base on Batuu. Guests use HTC Vive headsets to go on missions with C-3PO and R2-D2 as they try to stop the First Order from destroying a Rebel base.
