Cost to build pool

The cost of building a pool can vary widely. The average cost to build a pool is about $20,000 for an 18-foot-by-36-foot concrete pool with an aboveground liner. But many factors can affect the price tag, including location, size and number of features.

The average cost to build a pool ranges from $7,000 to more than $100,000. On average, the larger and more complex the pool is, the more it will cost to build.

Installing a fiberglass or vinyl-lined pool costs less than half as much as installing an aboveground concrete or gunite (gunned) concrete structure. For example, an 18-foot by 36-foot concrete swimming pool averages around $20,000; an 18 by 36 vinyl liner would cost around $10,000; and a fiberglass shell would be roughly one third that price.

With a fiberglass shell, you don’t have to worry about maintenance like you do with a concrete or gunite shell. You also don’t have to worry about the cost of repairs if something happens to your shell over time because there isn’t any!

Average Costs to Build a Pool

The average cost of an above-ground pool is about $4,000 for a 20-foot round model. This includes all equipment such as pumps, filters, piping and chemicals. The average cost of an in-ground pool ranges from $10,000 to $15,000 for a 20 by 40 foot model with vinyl liner and vinyl coping. The average cost of a fiberglass installation is between $7,500 and $8,500 depending on the size of your yard and the type of installation required.

The cost to build a pool depends on the size, shape and location of the pool.

In most cases, a concrete pool will cost less than an above-ground pool.

A 28-yard by 52-foot inground concrete pool (about 7 feet deep) would cost approximately $46,000 to install, according to a 2015 study conducted by the National Swimming Pool Foundation. This estimate includes labor, concrete work and materials.

The same study found that a vinyl-liner above-ground pool costs significantly less: approximately $35,000. The study was based on a 28-by-52-foot pool with vinyl liner and filter pump system installed in Las Vegas, NV.
