The Shadow Creek Golf Course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1991. The course was built on the site of an old rock quarry, which was filled with water from Lake Mead to create a manmade lake. The 18-hole, par 72 course measures 7,811 yards from the back tees and has a slope rating of 150 and a 70.6 USGA rating.
There are three lakes on the course that come into play on many holes; many have island greens. The fairways are very wide but there are some trees lining them for those daring enough to attempt to hit driver off every tee box (which will result in numerous lost balls). The greens are large and undulating with several tiers that require short shots bounced onto them or played from one tier to another depending on pin position and distance from green. There are also several bunkers throughout the course that create additional hazards for players’ shots.
