How to Build a Cedar Raised Garden Bed - Dengarden

Here’s how we built ours:

1. We started with four 2x4s cut to 4′ lengths. We then used a circular saw to cut off the ends so each piece was 4’x3′. Next we cut them into 12″ pieces using the miter saw. This is where the math comes into play – you’ll need two 12″ pieces for each side of your 4×8 bed, so 48 total pieces need to be cut (12 per side x 2 sides).

2. Next we drilled holes in each end of every piece using a drill bit sized for 1/2″ lag screws (you could use screws but they may not hold well if you ever decide to add a roof). We also drilled holes in the bottom of every piece – this will allow water drainage after it rains or snows so that it doesn’t puddle up on top of your soil and kill it off!

3. Now that all pieces are drilled we can start assembling our garden box! We positioned three 2x4s at one end of our project

2 pieces of 2″x6″x8′ pt lumber (for legs)

4x8 Raised Bed Vegetable Garden Layout Ideas: What to Sow & Grow

The first thing to consider is the material of the bed itself. Most people prefer wood because it’s easier to maintain than plastic or metal. Wood is also more attractive than plastic or metal, so if aesthetics are important to you then wood is probably the way to go.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you want your raised garden bed on legs or not. Some people prefer having their beds sitting in the ground because it makes it easier for them to reach into the center of the bed without bending over or kneeling in dirt (which gets very messy). Others prefer having their raised garden beds on legs so that they can easily move them around as needed – such as when weeding or harvesting crops from the center of the bed where it’s too hard for them to reach otherwise.
