Cut 2 pieces for each side that are about 5 inches longer than what is needed for attaching them together (this allows for screwing everything together at once rather than having more than one piece that needs attached after everything else is done).

What you need:

A circular saw, with either a carbide-tipped blade or a high-quality blade for cutting hardwoods, like cedar.

A hammer and nails or screws.

A tape measure and square (or straightedge).

Wood glue.

Sandpaper (100, 150, 220 grits).
