Step 1: Cut the boards to length. The bottom should be about one inch shorter than the top, to allow for drainage. The front piece should be two inches longer than the back piece, so that you can attach it in a way that allows you to hinge the roof easily. These measurements are just suggestions; you can make yours larger or smaller if you want to.
Step 2: Attach the four sides together using wood glue and screws. If you want to be able to open up your owl box later on, use hinges instead of screws (see photo). Then set them aside until they’re dry enough to handle without losing their shape. Keep in mind that epoxy takes longer than wood glue does to dry completely, so if you’re using epoxy, let it sit overnight before proceeding with Step 3 below.

The barn owl is a small, stocky owl with long wings and tail. It has rounded head with large, brown eyes. The female is usually slightly larger than the male.
The barn owl is mainly nocturnal but it can sometimes be seen during daylight hours as well. It feeds on small mammals like mice, rats and voles but also on birds and other bird eggs.
