Building A DIY Root Cellar At The Farm - A Vintage Storage Solution!

You’ll need at least 3 feet of space around your storage area, so make sure there’s enough room for this length plus 1 foot on either side of it (see diagram).

When digging down into the ground, use an auger if possible because it cuts through faster than hand tools do and doesn’t damage as much soil as shovels do when you plow over dirt with a shovel instead of using an auger
