Make a simple box that can be used as a planter or raised bed. The box is made from two or three pallets placed end to end. This creates an enclosed area that can be filled with soil and plants. The height of the box depends on how tall you want your plants to grow. Use a saw to cut between the boards of each pallet at the height you want. Remove the nails holding together the boards with a hammer and pull them apart at the cut lines with pliers.

Window Boxes

Use pallets in place of wood for building window boxes that fit into windowsills or other narrow spaces where growing plants would be useful. These boxes are typically built out of three pallets, but may also use just two when space is limited. The walls should be built out of 2-inch (5 cm) wide boards nailed together with 2-inch (5 cm) nails spaced every 6 inches (15 cm).
